Ordinary Old Catholic Me
There are lots of Catholics like me out there. We are lifelong practitioners of a certain age, folks who remember Pre-Vatican Two and were thrown into the deep end of Post-Vatican Two where we still swim. We are well read, but we are not theologians. We need to stick together so that we can navigate the tides of modern life which are probably just as choppy as they were 2000 years ago. Ordinary Old Catholic Me is Ordinary Old Catholic You. Let‘s walk together!

Moral Courage
Monday Sep 26, 2022
Monday Sep 26, 2022
Sorry for the delay, having internet connectivity issues! The topic: suggested by one of my listeners. Do you have moral courage? Do I? Not so easy especially in this modern society. Some thoughts on what it appears to be and wow, I have a long way to go. And also the need to learn patience. This internet situation took up a lot of hours, and I was. . . less than cheerful. Much less than.

Fulton Sheen’s Beatification Time Has Come!
Sunday Sep 18, 2022
Sunday Sep 18, 2022
Fulton Sheen's cause for sainthood was interrupted abruptly almost three years ago. There has been dead silence since then, and at this time, it appears that the rationale no longer pertains. And yet, still the silence. The controversy created around him may have caused more people to have come to know his prophetic words about sin and redemption but especially now, we need an American Saint whose recorded words remind us of the spiritual battle that is raging around us.

Change of Direction?
Sunday Sep 11, 2022
Sunday Sep 11, 2022
It is good to resort to Tradition, the Magisterium, the Bible and all the other deep writings of great thinkers in doing this podcast, but I am not an educator. I'm just an Ordinary Catholic talking about my struggles and, maybe, yours, and I want not to disguise those struggles with a faux intellectuality. I read a lot, yes, but that's not the essence of this small effort. So, a change of direction seems in order. Maybe it won't be noticeable; maybe it will. Either way, that's today's plan.

Final Retreat Thoughts
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Three episodes about what I took away from my Ignatian Retreat and I know I haven't captured it. But maybe my little reminiscence will lead you to an online retreat (I do highly recommend Fr. Ed Broom at St. Peter Chanel Church; just check You Tube for a taste of it) or something more intense as the one that I did.

More Retreating.

I realize as I tell you about my time at the retreat and how it affected me that my words are so inadequate. But maybe there is something here that touches you as the experience touched me.
